URIAH: The Excellent Team Spirit

There is an urgency to remind the Church of the power of unity, oneness and team spirit. These are the last days and the kingdoms of God and the enemy are in a constant battle of claiming territories and soul harvest. If there is any weapon the devil succeeds mostly with, it is the weapon of disunity.

Consider these scriptures;

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Psalms 133:1-3

See, we achieve more together as a body on any cause.

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Permit me to reintroduce to you this warrior, a man with an excellent team spirit… URIAH.

It Pays To Serve Jesus

Most of us know the story of David, Uriah and Bathsheba from 2 Samuel chapter 11. It will do you good to go through the entire chapter again and see what the Lord laid in my spirit in verses 8 to 11.

And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king’s house, and there followed him a mess of meat from the king. But Uriah slept at the door of the king’s house with all the servants of his Lord, and went not down to his house. And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou not from thy journey? why then didst thou not go down unto thine house? And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my Lord Joab, and the servants of my Lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.

2 Samuel 11:8-11

In a bid to cover up his adulterous act, king David came up with a plan to distract and entice a soldier into his wife’s bed. He didn’t see the reaction of Uriah coming.

You never can beat a man with an excellent team-spirit because the Lord goes ahead of them, commanding blessings.

Uriah had no idea his bed had been defiled. In the face of such temptation offered, he stood loyal to God, his host nation(remember, he was a Hittite), His undeserving king, battle commander and his people. There was a battle to be fought and won, there was a cause to run and there was a goal to be accomplished. Uriah wasn’t losing sight of this perspective for the arms of his wife or the king’s meal.

He knew his position and understood the importance of individual commitment to the grand scheme of things. He knew he had to be there for others to succeed. He understood SACRIFICE.

This same sacrifice God made through His son. God so loved, that He gave His life for the church. Uriah didn’t have to be under the new covenant to understand sacrifice. Hnmm …The ark of the Lord cannot be in a tent and Uriah, in the arms of a woman. What dedication to service!

Uriah reminds me of a refrain in the hymn, IT PAYS TO SERVE JESUS.

Refrain:
I love Him far better than in days of yore,
I’ll serve Him more truly than ever before;
I’ll do as He bids me, whatever the cost,
I’ll be a true soldier — I’ll die at my post.

I can hear Uriah singing this refrain in my spirit. Although He was killed for his loyalty, God did not let it slide. The blood of the diligent cried out and David paid dearly for it. Uriah actually died at his post.

Today, many do not exhibit equal or close sense of commitment to teamwork. We tend to put our individual needs ahead of others and team commitment. We fail to understand that working together brings about a wholistic positive effect than our individual prowess can afford.

In the things of the kingdom, there should be no competition. We all are working towards the same goal and the grace for everyone is more than enough.

That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

1 Corinthians 12:25-26

Don’t try to climb higher at the expense of your brother, you will fall deeper. Loyalty and team spirit as shown by Uriah, is what will cause everyone to shine brighter together. So, whether in the church, at work, school or play, remember to follow till the end with diligience, what has been placed in your hands to do within the team.

Like Uriah, are you willing to do God’s bid whatever the cost? are you ready to die at your post?

We will look at Uriah’s diligence to service in our next blog post. Please stay connected to grace.

By Sister Jennifer Nazziwa

“I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.’’

Revelations 3:8

Door: An entrance.
• To go through a door you must have access, password, Keys, combination.
• Its authority, privilege, not everyone has it. You can call it a special grace or divine favor.
• Open doors enable you to fulfill an assignment so utilize them.
• You have been mandated ,empowered and anointed to that assignment. That is your open door.
No man can shut it.

Shut: Close
No man can hinder your God given purpose in life. I challenge you to walk through that open door.
If the door has already been set for you and opened your role it to walk through it. Walking through open doors needs revelation.
• You must understand that the door is opened.
• Have spiritual eyes to see or discover that the door is open.
• Take a step of faith. Put in effort to explore new territories and dig into the unknown. Take on new boundaries. Widen your scope. Do not be afraid.
• Spiritual ears or antennas. The natural ability to notice things and understand their importance.

“Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying , Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise , go over this Jordan ,you, and all this people, to the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given to you, as l said to Moses.”

Joshua 1:1

God had already set an open door for Joshua even though Moses their leader had died. Instead of Joshua lamenting and complaining, he took time to listen and understand God’s word .What is God saying during this period of Covid 19 Pandemic. You will need spiritual antennas to understand the time and season and walk through the open doors.
Understand that the vision you carry is for the next generation.
• It’s time to live your dream.
• Let it come to life.
• Share it with others.
• Invite others to join you on this journey.
• You will cause many to inherit.

• Understand that you were are an open door that many will use to get into their inheritance. You are an entrance that God wants to use for many to experience Jesus in their lives.
• You have been chosen.

Jeremiah 29: Represents double anointing to break forth.

“This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.”

Jeremiah 29:1

• Take time to study the word of God. You will discover your purpose. Why are you in here at such a time as this?
• Where is your sphere of influence?
• Which Kingdom do you represent and what is your mission?
• Are you living your purpose? If not what must you do to reach your fulfillment?
• Notice they were professionals, occupation, he was talking to people with a special gifting or calling i.e. priests, prophets etc. They had been born to serve in the palace yet they were living in exile.
