TEXT: 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

2 Corinthians 10: 3- 5

I’ll take the first paragraph to summarize the whole message today. Having the upper hand in spiritual warfare (since we are in constant conflict with negating powers in our earthly race), is a product of having a deep revelation of who God truly is.

The battle is all about God’s chosen creation not knowing for themselves, who God is and who they are in Christ. The devil is quite aware that your understanding Yahweh, puts him at a loss. He knows too well this fact, that armed with our testimony of God through Christ, we over power him (Revelation 12:11a ). This is why the devil is fighting tooth and nail so we do no catch that revelation.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Revelation 12:11a

The blood and the word. The blood for every confessed believer is a very powerful weapon and shield and so are the words of our testimony of faith.

WHAT IS YOUR TESTIMONY?

We are looking at the knowledge of God and its efficacy in having this knowledge. If overcoming the devil entails words of testimony, then it will do well to understand what a testimony is in this context.

“Sharing (or giving) a testimony” in Christianity is telling someone else about your relationship with God. Christian believers would likely define testimony by the public profession of their faith journey and relationship with God.” -Linda Gilden

The Merriam Webster dictionary explains TESTIMONY as a public profession of religious experience; an open acknowledgement; a firsthand authentication of a fact. All this sums up to one thing – KNOWLEDGE.

The testimony of a believer is your understanding and profession of who God is and who you are in Him. In a testimony is a relationship established and acknowledged. It is this profession that scares the devil no little bit.

Your testimony should therefore be a clear statement of

1. Your life before redemption

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.”

Ephesians 2: 1-2

You alone can tell how far gone you were before you saw the Light of God. There should be a very personal touch to this part of your testimony statement.

2. How you were saved by Christ. Your moment of encounter

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.”

John 5: 24

Go ahead to meditate on the process our Lord and savior took to redeem mankind to God. See 1John 5: 10 – 11

“He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

1 John 5: 10- 11

3. Your journey, knowledge of and relationship with God at the time of profession.

You shine a light on the God who has saved you for others to see and be saved and you overcome the devil by the words of your testimony. Do good to have yours written and memorized. It will come in handy in a day of affliction.

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHO GOD REALLY IS?

I like the emphasis on who God is as written in Isaiah

Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, And Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Lord , are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.

Isaiah 63:16

The word ‘DOUBTLESS’ comes with a strong conviction and the repetition in the same verse, futher buttresses this. God is our Father and most importantly and dangerously to the kingdom of the adversary, He is our REDEEMER.

Conclusively,

God is your Father, He has been your Redeemer since everlasting. There is power in knowing that only God can save and redeem you out of darkness. You carry power when you have a testimony of the most powerful.

Let me end with this, since you are created in the image and likeness of God, you carry his DNA and by your testimony and the blood, no power can defeat you.
