‭‭II Kings‬ ‭7:1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is our season of sudden celebration. The time when God is set to do a 180 degrees turnaround of unfavourable situation in your life …. Halleluyah.

Celebration in my own lay term, means to rejoice over a pleasant happening. To have it suddenly means an unexpected disruption of that unfavourable situation.

2020 has been a great year for some people but then we cannot deny that it has been somewhat a tough year for many others too. We admit that the Lord our God has been faithful to us and this is why in the midst of casting downs we declare a lifting.

Many of you experienced various levels of ‘casting downs’ or unfavourable conditions during this lockdown year. For some, theirs have been a long travail in hopelessness.

Woman with the issue of blood

What have you experienced or still experiencing, that has put you in a state of hopelessness? Today I have come to announce to you that your season of sudden celebration has come. Receive it in the mighty name of Jesus.

The bible on numerous accounts has shown the Lord turning around the sufferings of his people suddenly and unexpected. Our key text shows how Samaria being besieged by the enemy, suffered famine until they had to eat their kids to survive. What could be more hopeless than that? Even the king who was to be their protector had given up hope in God(See 2Kings 6:27. He had concluded that the Lord could not help them
Other references of state of hopelessness that received a sudden turnaround includes

  1. The Jews in the book of Esther who being faced with annihilation by the Persians experienced a divine turnaround of the situation to the extent that they became VIP citizens. They still celebrate that victory till this day.
  2. The Israelites in the middle of the Red Sea and Pharaoh. Their victory song was recorded after the word came forth to move forward and the parting of the sea.
  3. The woman in the issue of blood travailed for 12 years in that condition. Her suffering seized after her encounter with Jesus. Read the account in Mark 5:25-34 And many more.

I do not want to detail the types of hopeless situation that may be confronting you today, I want to speak and reassure you of the infallible power of the most high God to change any unpleasant situation this season.

We have spoken so much on faith. We are quite aware that faith moves mountains. Encouragement from the word tells us to have faith and see wonders. Perhaps, many have exercised faith so big but no results. This is not to say God isn’t working through your faith. He could perhaps expect you to try WORKS instead.

The lepers announce the good news

This is where I am going to. Faith without work is dead (James 2:26). I have but one word for you today. IF YOU MUST EXPERIENCE SUDDEN CELEBRATION, YOU MUST TAKE A STEP OF FAITH. That step of faith is seen throughout the whole references I have given. In simple words, be prepared to take risks like they did. Risk takers like the lepers in 2 Kings chapter 7 were the first to enjoy the sudden turnaround.

You may have been looked down upon and rejected just like the lepers and the woman with the issue of blood were, take the plunge because it is your season of celebration. The Lord is set to confound your adversaries like he did Haman and Pharaoh.

Let’s take 2 prayer points.

  1. It is my season of celebration, I will not miss it in the mighty name of Jesus.
  2. I receive strength and courage to take Holyspirit inspired steps towards my turnaround.
